6-a-side Success for the U14s at Cheadle

9 teams entered this years U14s 6-a-side tournament at Cheadle, and the format was simple, every team played 4 games, randomly selected by computer, and after these games the top 4 teams went through to the semi final.
With the standard of competition being high, we knew we had to do a great job otherwise we would be going home early, and the draw drew us with a 10am start against Cheadle, then Timperley, Rochdale and Mellor.
Following yesterdays defeat by Cheadle we knew they would offer a stern test of our credentials, with a 5-3 victory for Stockport.  Scorers were Cameron, Will H, Hugo (2) and Dan.
Up next was the ever improving Timperley, who got themselves in front and dominated early possession seeing themselves 2-1 to the good.  We continued to stick at free flowing passing lacrosse and we managed 4 goals on the bounce leaving us 5-3 victors.  Scorers were Will H (3), Cameron (2).
Rochdale up next and our first trip to pitch 2, and with some good players appearing for Rochdale, we played well again and won 6-2.  Scorers Rhys, Will H (2), Cameron (2), and Hugo.
Full of enthusiasm we moved back to pitch one, and came up against a team from Mellor who needed the win to go through, and they proved what a good team they are buy inflicting our only defeat of the day by 7 goals to 3.  Scorers were Will H (2), and Cameron.
This left us with a little uncertainty on whether or not we would progress, and we needed to ensure others teams didn't manage 3 or more victories.  With both Norbury and Poynton progressing with 4 wins out of 4, Mellor and Stockport went through with 3 wins apiece.
So Poynton in the semi final, and with some excellent players in their ranks, our finishing had to be the best it had been all day.  Rhys took the first opportunity calmly, and we never looked back, with a 6-3 victory.  Scorers were Rhys, Cameron (2), and Will H (3).
On to the final against a strong Norbury team, and a large crowd watched on to see which way the final would go.  With a superb defensive performance, limiting our opponents to very few chances and Hugo managing to get 3 at the other end, we man aged to secure the trophy for the 2nd year running.
An excellent day, with thanks as always to the hosts (who put on an excellent morning), all the referees, all the coaches, Alison and Karen (JSN), and above all else the young men who played some great lacrosse this morning.
