U12s at Home V Mellor

It been a fair few months since our last game, and with a good Summer, with lots of practice and a few new additions.  We start the season with fresh optimism, and a quiet belief that we can have a good season, encouraging good teamwork and bringing a maturity to the team that so many Year 7s can bring.
As with Stockport, Mellor will enter the season with lots of changes, with players moving up to a new age groups, one never knows if our opposition will be stronger than in previous years.  We simply have to play to our strengths, move the ball well and encourage a style of play which brings the new players forward.
The game itself started brightly, with all 3 players we used at face being dominant.  At the end of Q1, we found ourselves 3-0 up, Q2 was another strong quarter with Stockport dominating to a 5-2 quarter, which left Mellor the opportunity to take Free Clears for the rest of the game, we were still able to have a 4-2 quarter in Q3.  We found ourselves 12-4 up with a quarter to play, we used all the resources available and changed things about giving Mellor an opportunity to pull 3 goals back leaving it a respectable victory of 12-7 to Stockport.  We managed 5 different scorers, with 3 from Rhys, 2 from Jay, 5 from Hugo, 1 from Luca and the first goal scored in Stockport Blue by Daniel.  If we were only slightly more clinical in front of goal, from our staggering 31 shots the score would have been significantly more.
Fantastic welcome to the 3 new players, George, Cormack and Henry.
