U12s Stockport vs Poynton/Rochdale.

U12s Stockport vs Poynton/Rochdale.

Another nice and mild Autumn day for an away match at Poynton and their joint team effort with Rochdale, a team who statistically are one of the weaker teams in the league.
Poynton opened the score in the first quarter, often winning the ground balls  and advancing well with some strong and tall attackers up front, Stockport still managed a couple of goals during the scraps, despite having a couple of players sent off for playing without gum shields, which were quickly replaced. Finishing Q1 2.2

Q2 Stockport soon got themselves into the game, each player joining the fight for the ball in turn, ever enthusiastically with Jacob B making the most of any balls  from midfield as well as Ethan making numerous individual efforts to score two goals and Daniel too, ending Q2 8.6 to Stockport

Q3 Stockport won this quarter also, just by making the most effort with Euan recovering the ball often with his pace and Henry scoring from a good individual effort. A few sendings off from careless checking and some exchanges from the refs and the coaches, not a great deal of accurate passing or assists going on, more a day of individuals doing their own thing with better passing from the Poynton side. Q3 finishing 11. 7 to stockport

Q4 Poynton came back fighting, snatching the ball and scoring with their tall attackers in the last quarter, managing to score four goals, but Stockport hanging on for the victory with Josh making the last save of the day before the whistle. Q4 13.11 to Stockport

Overall a fairly even game, but also quite a scrappy game at the same time, where the ball spent a lot of time on the ground. Stockport seem to be struggling to do quick efficient ground balls and are not really getting the ball up quickly enough in time to create good enough chances to develop their passing skills, to move the ball around the team effectively, rather improvising with individual efforts to get the ball up the pitch. Still a good win from fairly evenly matched teams.
