U14s Travel to Mellor for A 3-Way Against Timperley and Mellor

What a season this is turning out to be!  Apart from anything else the weather has been extremely kind to us, and prior to today we have managed 20 games, 17W, 1D, and 2 Defeats but as stated in my last blog, it is how much we have improved which impresses me the most.
The format today was pretty simple, basically 30 minute games, of 2x15 minute halves.
So we faced Timperley first and although a little slow to start, we soon found our stride with good passing, speed in transition and delighted to comment that Joel came up with the first score of the morning, followed by Cameron ad 2 from Rhys (Assisted by Hugo & Cameron), leaving ourselves 4-0 up at the end of the first half.
Q2 saw us continue to play good lacrosse, but seen us rotating the squad and ensuring all players get game time.  Still came up with 3-1 in the 2nd half, with 2 from Hugo and 1 from Will H both assisted by Cameron.  So first game over and done with and a victory nonetheless of 7-1.

Second game of the morning saw us come up against Mellor (again) and although during the game their are rivalries there are a number of strong friendships which exist amongst he players.  We started well, and the first half saw us go in with a slight advantage of 4-5.  Delighted to see Joe B get his first goal for a few years with a lovely take from Cameron and a quick finish for our 3rd goal of the morning.  Other scorers in the first half were Cameron, Will H (2), and Rhys.  Probably the highlight of the mornings play, was the ability to bring in less experienced players, resting some and still being able to be extremely competitive and the 2nd half seen Luca get on the scoresheet with Mellor getting a couple at the other end.  Although nothing at stake the coaches decided to play golden goal and a long run by a Mellor player saw him shoot and score.  In the end an enjoyable mornings play, leaving our friends from Mellor bragging rights.

U12s Stockport vs Brooklands

U12s Stockport vs Brooklands

The last league game in the season today for the Stockport’s U12s, for what has been an interesting and largely entertaining season for a team of players that are mostly in their first season. Complete with some spring sunshine, we were on to the main pitch for this match, which promised to be a good even match as we drew 13 all with Brooklands in the very first game of this season.

Q!. Starting off well and scoring quickly Dan Teal put Stockport in front while the Brooklands tall number 11 soon equalised from the crease. Stockport were moving the ball around well today and attitudes appeared much more positive, Jacob B put stockport in front again followed by another from Dan Teal however the Brooklands number 11 who was hanging off the stockport crease was scoring way too easily ending Q1 3 all.

Q2. Stockport were doing reasonably well at face winning most, with a great goal from Tom Smith
as well as another from Dan Teal, the midfield with Henry Ethan and Euan were doing some good strong running with the ball with some shots included, but also passing the ball too this week with Jacob B scoring another 4 including a great left handed goal.

Q3. With a lengthy time consuming change of keeper for Brooklands  during this quarter saw various mini picnics around the pitch developing with some lying down watching the world go by before play commenced, with the younger players  more involved including Euan Mills and Jacob jnr Morris in the thick of the action up front showing some great catching and passing ability. This quarter went to Brooklands though as they fought back well for possession of the ball, scoring another 2 goals to Stockport`s  only 1 this quarter for Jacob B.

Q4. The Stockport defence looked a lot more responsive today in fighting for and winning the ball back which has been a very tricky Job this year with some of the 12 year olds they have had to defend against, so well done to Archie  Ryan and Thurston and Josh, every position on the pitch involves a small battle which has to be won.
The shirt was back as well as the game face for Jacob Jnr in his much more recognisable  #20 shirt up front with numerous shots on goal, that just wouldn`t quite go in, but the assist was just as important. A great individual run and gun goal this quarter for Henry as well as another for Tom Smith and Jacob B too which secured the win for Stockport.

Final score Stockport 13 Brooklands 9

Goal Scorers.
Henry Parker 1 Tom Smith 2 Dan Teal 3 Jacob B 7

Assists.
Jacob Bradbury, Jacob Jnr Morris, Tom Smith , Dan Teal,
Euan Mills, Ethan Livesey, and Henry Parker.

Overall we came 5th in the Nemla League games winning 10 games, losing 8 and drawing 1.
