U14s Entertain Norbury at The Cale

For a game so early in the season, we were delighted to be playing at Stockport.  The great work from our ground staff ensured our pitch was in great condition (considering the rain), albeit soft it certainly held up well.  The real downside to the constant downpour was my stats didn't survive, and although I kept the records, the paper didn't do its job and I will have to do my best from memory.
The game started and Norbury were strong at face, and won all of the first 4 face off's, but beyond that our players were disciplined and Norbury only managed to register 1 goal to our six.  In the first quarter we were prolific in front of goal, scoring 6 out of our 7 shots giving us a commanding position to move forward.
Q2 was different in our finishing, were we managed a further couple of goals, but were a little more wasteful and on this occasion we had 9 attempts at goal.
With us in control, the game will be remembered for the impact of the newer players.  The coaches were excellent on the sidelines, providing guidance and assistance, for both the established and newer players, who all got game time and contributed to the game, George, Ted, Isaac and Findlay all getting plenty of game time with the latter two both finding themselves on the scoresheet.  Isaac in only his second game ever.
It finished 15-2 in our favour, with 11 goals assisted which is a terrific return, and one we should be very pleased with.

U12s Stockport vs Poynton

U12s Stockport vs Poynton

The second game of the season this week was transferred to Stockport today due to waterlogged pitches over at the Poynton club. Poynton managed to field just 8 players also today and so Stockport kindly transferred 4 players for them over the course of the match. So many thanks for the cross team experience to Harrison, Ollie, Felix and Ethan who shouldn’t`t make a habit of it.

Q1. Poynton started well, scoring the first goal and looking fairly strong with good attacks and fairly even end to end play. Stockport settled into their game a little with goals coming from Henry, Freddie and two goals from Tom. Another goal from Poynton made it 4.2 to stockport going into the second quarter.

Q2. Then the rain came bouncing down, the play became careless and at one time the boys looked like they were all digging a big hole, but eventually Poynton picked it up and play resumed. Henry was having a blast scoring another two goals with one too from Freddie. Poynton too scored two goals finishing half time 8-4 to Stockport .

G3. The stockport defence looking much more animated this season, sliding and getting involved a lot more quickly, gaining more confidence with each match, including the keeper taking a few risks out field mixed with some dodgy clearances and keeping us entertained with the ensuing saves. More goals from Henry and Freddie with no reply at all from Poyton during this quarter, who looked like they had run out of steam

Q4.  Leo Baker got himself onto the score sheet today, so a very well done to him and hope thats the first of many as well as two more from Henry who ran himself ragged all match with great enthusiasm with two goals also from Ethan Livesey, one of which was the last minute cheeky kick in!  Jacob junior too had some great shots at goal with his first goal of the season coming soon. All the Stockport boys were well involved and enthusiastic on a dismal but enjoyable morning of Lacrosse.

Final Score Stockport 16  Poynton 6

Goal Scorers

Leo Baker 1  Ethan Livesey 2 Tom 2 Freddie 3 Henry 8
