U11 Girls Away at Mellor 4th November

Stockport Win 18 - 9

Scorers:
Mia F - 8
Fran B - 5
Jess B - 4 and 1 Assist
Daisy J - 1

Firstly apologies for not taking any pics, I will start taking more! But in my defence there were that many goals that I didn't have time to take any!!

Liv Higson got the U11's all powered up and we were off to a quick start with the thirteen travelling players.

Q1 was all Stockport with us coming out winners 5-1. Jess B, Fran and Mia all took turns at the drawer and came up with plenty of possession and there was no hanging about
going to goal. Mia, Fran and Jess opened up the scoring and the score board ticking over. Lucy P kept Mellor's goals at 1 with a fine display of goal keeping.

Q2 was a different game ending level at 4-4. Mellor came back strong and were starting to link passes together and claimed four good scores. Mia took her stint in goal and stopped Mellor at 4. A point to note in Q2 is that Daisy J bagged her first goal in her first game!! A well taken shot from a tight angle. Lets see some more. Amy T got stuck in and was getting in some great positions and picked up valuable ground balls. Lotta also showed great awareness getting into fantastic positions which will be converted in goals as this team develops.

Following Liv's half time team talk Stockport came out firing with all guns again coming up trumps 5-3. Carys J went in goal and made some great saves much to to the crowds pleasure. Effy, Olivia and Sophie had another great game covering plenty of yards on Mellor's hilly pitch and all played superbly with massive smiles. They showed discipline and a good ear to listen to the coach and made solid efforts in the defence, dampening Mellor persistent efforts. Millie H stepped onto the field in her first game and got stuck in helping out her team mates and sported a big smile

Q4 was Stockport's again winning it 3-1. Both teams had ran their socks off and were slowing down at this point, other than Summer H who looks likes she could run for days. New to the game summer looks like she's going to be force to be reckoned with.  Daisy J, in her first game, took a stint between the sticks and showed great promise in this position too showing no fear and making great saves.

A great game enjoyed by teams and enjoyed by all that watched. As the game progressed more and more passes were being thrown showing that the team is really developing. Spacial awareness and forward thinking is improving each week. It was very good to see Fran B and Lucy P who created plenty of turnovers, claimed mountains of ground balls and intercepted passes throughout the game.

Extra pats on the back:
Mia - goal machine
Daisy - game 1, goal 1, goaly stint 1
Lucy  - super solid game
Fran - 5 g's and great play reading
Jess B - great drawers, super speed and a brilliant assist to Mia
