Girls U11 Vs Timperley at Home 18-11-18

Houston, we have a problem!!!

Because I didn't take any pictures of the Mellor game I asked Nadine H if she would be this weeks chief photographer. She took this task to the cleaners and took 115 pics!!! Thank you Nadine, you got some crackers.

Well, what a game! A beautiful morning down at the club and the U11s turned up with a squad of seventeen, eager to take on the powerhouse that is Timperley.

Quick over view

Scorers:
Leah R - 6
Mia F - 4
Fran B - 2
Jess B - 2
Carys J - 1

Quarter Scores:
Q1  6 - 5
Q2  2 - 3
Q3  4 - 5
Q4  3 - 4
Final  15 - 17

We got off to a roaring start going up 5-0 in what seemed like no time at all and it looked like this was going to be a white wash. Liv got the girls running, passing and catching from the off and we were looking very strong. But Timperley soon came back into the game and the first quarter ended up very close with Stockport winning 6 - 5.

The second quarter didn't see as many goals but saw some excellent team play from both sides. Amelie G volunteered to go in goal for the whole game and put in a sterling performance making some sharp saves preventing Timperley from getting some easy goals. Her sister Isla ran her socks off and is rapidly improving and is a valuable team player. Solid defence from Nadine Z (new hoodie = very happy!!), Carys, Lotta, Mia and Leah made it hard for Timperley to get more than 3 in this quarter and it looked like no one was going to win a ground ball against Effy 'the hoover' H.

Carys carrying out another clear
Q3 was very tight again with end to end play. Transition was increasing for both sides and the ball was starting to move faster. We saw some great saves again that had the growing crowd cheering. Examples of some spectacular clearing of the ball were also displayed showing the we have good legs even in the second half of a fast paced game. Carys took one clearing opportunity to claim her first goal of the season going from end to end. 2nd game in for Daisy J and she looks like she's been at the club for 10 years, comfortable on the ball and keen to get stuck in all over the field. KT-Anne and Jess E are both showing great technical ability and keep getting into the right positions on the field. Both players were influential at the offensive end.

Q4 was Timperleys but only by one goal again (i'm not sure who enjoyed the game more, the spectators or the players). Summer H was still coving every inch of the field, playing rock solid defence and nearly bagging a goal! Millie H got some more game time and is settling into the team nicely. Fran B and Jess B continued to lead from the front and were making sure that they enjoyed their last season at U11s. Both had fantastic games with great team attitudes and chalking up two goals a piece. Lotta showed that she was here to stay and didn't stop running the whole game, another new starter showing massive improvements and great potential. Another consistently solid performance from Lucy helped the Stockport battle.

Fran's happy, two in the bag
Jess B -  Always going forward

Although we lost 15-17, it was an amazing game enjoyed by both teams and all spectators. Very promising for the womens game if all these players stay on!!.

I am very impressed with the whole team in games and in practices but in particular the new starters. Millie, Nadine, Daisy, Lotta, Mia F, Effy, Summer, Isla, Sophie, Mia J and Beau  - fantastic attitudes, skills and team spirit coming from all of them. Keep it up the good work girls!!

Mia and Leah - you both owe me a pencil for Christmas for the stats I'm recording.
