U14s at Home to Poynton

As the U14s continue to improve all over the park, with hard work and good team spirit we welcomed Poynton, who this year are a couple of players short so they have a few guest players from Mellor.
10am and looking forward to the game, and all organised, playing on a great surface, refs ready, and away we go.  Jay strong at face today, came up with the ball and this set the tone for the remaining part of the morning.  Q1 finished and we found ourselves 7 - 0 up, with a lovely pickup and finish from Jacob, got us on our way.
Q2 was very similar in the outcome, and one of these goals came from a missed pass, and with the keeper expecting the attacker to catch the ball it eluded them all and found its way into the goal.
Q3 ended 3-1, and the Poynton goal was almost a replica of the Stockport goal in Q2, where it was a pass into the goal.  Q4 was 2-0 to the U14s and it all finished 17-1.
Stats for the day 8 different scorers, Jacob (4), Jay, Hugo (2), Finlay, Rhys (4), Joel, George (3), and James.  7 Assists, Jay (2), Hugo (3), Rhys and Luca.
Lots of praise in team sports get lavished on the attacking play and how the ball moves forward, quite rightly.  However, my only other thought is we are 7 games in, and the defence have conceded 16 goals, which is phenomenal.
