Junior Boys at 'Cale Green'

The blog is slightly different this week, as we had one of those rare occasions where all 3 junior boys teams were represented at the spiritual home of lacrosse in the UK.  U12s and U14s were always playing at home, and with recent bad weather causing Norbury's new ground to be waterlogged we hastedly switched the game to Cale Green.
Today was really a testament to how great the club of 'Stockport Lacrosse' actually is.  Firstly, once the U12s and U14s found out about the U16s having to switch they were accommodating by moving around the pitches.  The fact that all 3 pitches (were soft) but playable is a massive testament to the great work John, Barry and Colin do in providing our players with good (safe) playing surfaces for most of the season.  Not too mention the expense, the club have lavished on the pitches to give everyone the best experience.
Then really, lets look at todays opposition.  We all know how hard it is to get lacrosse represented in the heartland of junior boys lacrosse, so when our U12s are facing Liverpool (a relatively new team who brought 6 or 7 players) they could either refused to play, or they can accommodate the kids and coaches by loaning players and trying to make a morning of it.
On this occasion the U14s were faced with a similar predicament, with Rochdale (who only have a small squad) only being able to come with 6 players.  It was decided before the game, to give the result a 1-0, and play a training game, and try and offer the Rochdale players and coaches an opportunity to play.
Then finally the U16s, had a very even contest ahead of them against a Norbury team, with some talented players amongst their ranks.  However, the joint Stellor Team were a fair match, and made the most of a good team performance.  11 Goals today and all of them I would suggest were great team goals, good passing, and movement, and some energetic clearing from the stand-in keeper kept them pressing forward.
All in All a terrific day to be associated to Stockport Lacrosse.
