U12s Stockport vs Cheadle 2nd Nov

Cheadle v Stockport 02/11

The return of the snood!

A visit to Cheadle for this game was met with clear skies but a very boggy pitch. Josh, our regular keeper, was away so substitutes were needed. A heavy defeat to Cheadle last season meant this was going to be a tricky fixture for the boys.

Q1

Thurston was the keeper for this quarter and Cheadle came out of the traps quickly. For some reason Stockport just couldn’t get going and Cheadle breezed to a quick 5-0 advantage. Stockport dug in deep, and Dan worked hard, but sadly could only hit the post. Cheadle got a couple more to make it 7-0. With the quarter coming to an end, the Stockport defence finally responded and Henry got us off the mark.

7-1

Q2

Freddie started this quarter in goal. A good save started the period but Cheadle pushed on and scored a further three goals to take it to 10-1. Despite the score line Stockport steadied the ship and the quarter was played out.

10-1

Q3

The condition of the pitch was making play difficult for both teams and at one point Stockport players, Tom, Henry and Dan were all off the pitch injured. Despite the terrain, Stockport seemed more organised this quarter but Cheadle finished the it with another goal.

11-1

Q4
Stockport had a better start to the final quarter but it wasn’t long until the rain started pouring down, making the pitch a quagmire. Neither side was playing particularly well due to the conditions, and the game was very scrappy from both sides. Having said this, Cheadle went on and scored a pair of goals before the whistle was finally blown concluding a mixed fixture.

Not a classic but credit to Stockport for getting back into the game in very poor conditions.

Final score 13-1
