U14s Entertain Mellor

Wow!  What a terrific game of junior lacrosse, and although slightly disappointed at the final result, one cannot be disappointed with the standard of lacrosse on show from both teams.
In a tense first quarter, our midfield strength were surging forward and coming up against a resilient Mellor defence, Will H scored to bring the game back level at 1-1 by the end of Q1.
Q2 was pretty much the same as Q1, we managed to get 2 in front to be pegged back.  Wave after wave of attack(s) on both sides, with both defences being structured in what they were doing, another equal quarter, finishing HT at 3-3.  At this stage, I asked our very own Statto about shots, saves, goals, and pretty much across the board both teams were identical in all the important areas.
Q3 started evenly, but Mellor managed to get their noses in front and we were starting to tire, Will H was having to take breathers from his box to box activity and we found ourselves 6-4 down at the end of Q3.
With the guys wanting to get back into the game, goals from Hugo and Cameron, brought us back into it, but with Mellor getting  final goal, we were just pipped and it finished 6-7.
Goals today Will h (4), Cameron and Hugo.
Thank you to the referees, the coaches and clubs for putting on a great game.
Well done to our long poles, who are still learning!
