U14s at Home to Poynton

Having played all our first 4 games at home, it was good to welcome one of the stronger teams to Cale Green.  With Poynton possessing a couple of strong players, but only 10 players, we knew we had to be at our best.
Q1 started with Poynton getting the first goal, and an even contest, back and forth leaving us all square at 3-3.  Q2 we managed to get our noses in front with a 3-2 quarter.  Q3 our extra energy, and the ability to rotate players, allowing some to get their energy back, enabled us to establish a 4-2 quarter.  Q4 was a real end to end game, with both teams breaking, and finishing with a 5-5 quarter.  Finishing the game as victors 15-12.
Overall a good game, with a variety of strong performances today.  Our defence improving, with Dan catching my eye, and our keeper making a number of decent saves.  After last week I know the coaches wanted to see more assists (as opposed to individual goals) and this is what they got, with 10 of the 15 goals ably assisted.  With assists provided by Hugo, Cameron, Will H and Dan.
Stats, which catch they eye.  28 shots today, and 25 on target, goals coming from Cameron (6), Will (4), George (2), Luca (2) and Rhys.
