U11 Girls Away to Norbury - Sunday 14th Oct 2018

Firstly,  thank you to Cathy Bohan and Norbury Club for helping us to organise the last minute fixture. Although I feel that I should put in a formal complaint against the Norbury goalie for saving dozens of shots!! An excellent performance!!

Final Score: Norbury 6 - 12 Stockport
Scorers: Leah 6, Mia 4, Fran 1, Lucy 1

The Stockport U11 juggernaut travelled to Norbury on a bit of a soggy Sunday morning with 14 keen players, 2 stand in Coaches and a gaggle of parents all ready to brave the worsening weather.

Lucy got caught red handed with her pre-game meal - It must have worked as you got a great goal!

Both teams had plenty of newcomers to the game and from the first draw it was very level with both teams competing and not letting the weather interfere with proceedings in any way.

New recruits Nadine, Sophie, Lotta, Effy and Isla all put in sterling performances each playing crucial parts in the teams overall performance, whilst playing with big smiles on their faces (I promise it's not usually that wet). Sophie also played a half in goal and stopped a number of shots and flying clumps of mud. All five are already real assets to the team and all are showing great enthusiasm, team spirit and improving skill levels.

Mia F was ready to play again and claimed 4 goals and was looking to make a couple of killer passes.  I think we may even have caught a glimpse of her, almost famous, pirouette with a nifty finish at the end - two games, two great roll dodges.

It was great to have Leah back in the team and she was obviously hungry to bag a couple and came away with 6. Non-stop running all game and a determination to attack the goal.

Jess E. had another strong game showing poise and patience and she scored an amazing goal but unfortunately got called for a crease violation. She showed brilliant straight line speed leaving her defender for dust and finishing neatly!! Keep it up.

Fran took a stint in goal and kept out a number of shots from some of Norbury's big shooters. When out of goal, she nearly blew the back of the net out with a shot in the top corner.

Carys and Jess B took a leaf out of Jess E's book and were flying up and down the field, picking up ground balls and were constantly bringing the ball up field. In the dying seconds Jess B nearly had the chance to score or get an assist but the whistle was blown for full time. Your dad says it definitely wasn't him!

Olivia and Amy looked comfortable up in the attack and got multiple touches on the ball. Both are developing well and getting stronger after each practice and game.

Soggy but happy team - Time for a hot dog!

A great big thank you for our stand in coaches. Excellent Job, Everyone really appreciates it. Thank you Christine and Steph for stepping up.
