U12s Stockport vs Mellor

U12s Stockport VS Mellor. Away

Mellor, to most it`s just a small village on the outskirts of Marple Bridge, but if you are an opposing Lacrosse player,
the very name itself seems to carry an undercurrent of dread. This School based team play Lacrosse as part of the school curriculum and it pays off well for the club, in the quantity of players the club are able to choose from.
Without offering too much respect Jacob B opened the score from face off with a clean flip out of  the back of his stick to run and shoot inside Frederick’s side net.
From there on during the rest of the quarter, Stockport looked a little hesitant wondering what to do when they got the ball, eventually improvising by  running into numerous defensive players.
Stockport lost a lot of possession from non passing attacking and untidy ground balls up against plenty of year 7 seasoned players,  Mellor replied in the first quarter with 6 goals giving Stockport’s very young team  a demonstration of accurate passing and catching.
1st Quarter  Stockport 1 Mellor 6

Q2
With some much needed support and direction from the coaches, Stockport started to get it together a little, with some passing starting and plenty of fight and enthusiasm for the ball on the ground they gradually looked like a good opposition for Mellor.
For much of the u12s  this will be a year of learning how to play Lacrosse effectively  from moving the ball around to being an effective player from a tactical point of view.
2nd Quarter  Stockport 2 Mellor 8

Q3
Stockport actually drew with Mellor in this quarter and constantly improved as the game went on, as the coaches made some adjustments towards an offensive play, a couple of missed opportunities but a lot of effort made in the right direction.  Some good possession and running from Henry Parker and Ethan as the rest of the team learned the benefits of marking when you haven’t got the ball instead of all running towards it.
3rd Quarter Stockport 4 Mellor 10

Q4
An enjoyable quarter to watch, as Stockport actually started to move the ball around and work the X position on an occasion, the Stockport boys played throughout with the most enthusiasm and effort of the teams. The Stockport keeper was kept busy throughout the game and it was a good experience for all of our new team players against an experienced  and established team like the current Mellor U12s.

Final Score Stockport 7 Mellor 15
