U14s Quarter Final at Home to Brooklands

In order for us to make our first appearance at Rochdale in April for a number of years, we need to be at our best throughout the year, and in particular in the few cup games which truly matter.
We entertained Brooklands in the quarter final, with our 13 up against 10 from Brooklands.  We started at a truly great pace, scoring a goal in each and every minute of the first four minutes, with two goals apiece from Hugo and Cameron, with 3 of the 4 goals being assisted.  It wasn't all one way traffic, and Brooklands did find an open man on the edge of his crease to get one back but the quarter did finish 5-1 in Stockport's favour.
If Q1 was impressive, then Q2 was incredible, with a staggering 8 goals scored between Hugo, Will H, Rhys, Luca and Joel's first goal for Stockport with 3 being assisted.  Nothing going back the other way from Brooklands left us 13-1 up at the end of the first half.
As is customary at this stage, the coaches ensured that the team were utilised in full for this game.  The better we make the entire team, the stronger we will become for the remainder of this season and for many more to come.  Only 1 for us in this quarter, a fine effort by Rhys assisted by Will H, and a good solo effort from Brooklands No11, made it a 1-1 quarter.
Q4, showed what a good team we can be, with the whole squad moving the ball well, feeding people on the crease, and providing constant pressure on to the Brooklands goal.  Maybe we deserved more than a 2-1 quarter, with goals from Rhys and Jay.
Throughout the entire game, when Brooklands did gain possession our developing defence were brilliant, breaking things down, reading the game well, strong (and clean) work with the poles, and in control.  On the rare occasion they did get through the keeper, made 5 saves.
The movement off the ball today, was as good as it has been this year, with the attack making space for them to receive a pass.
Overall a very impressive team display, lots of goals, great defence, great movement, and enjoyable to watch.
The four teams in the semi-final (Stockport, Cheadle/Sheffield, Norbury and Poynton) make this a great competition to be involved with.
