U14s Friendly V Sheffield

As we enter the competitive part of the year, and the new format of cup competitions.  More competitive games, against those who have had similar results.  As the league has effectively been split in to 2 groups of 5, it leaves one team from the top pool, to play one team from the lower pool in a friendly each week.
We had the opportunity to host Sheffield, who continue to show what a good set up they have by being able to field a team at each age group, and we all know how hard that is.
As a competition it was a little one sided, with the age and experience (and talent) of Stockport showing in every department, and we quickly found ourselves 7 up, in probably about 10 minutes of Q1, and we ended up finishing the quarter 8 -0, with goals from Rhys (2), Joel (2), George (3) and Luca.
Q2 wasn't too dissimilar, with personnel being changed about and the positions being asked of some players was unfamiliar, we still managed to get a further 4, Ted, Findlay and a further 2 from Rhys.  At this point the Stockport keeper hadn't touched the ball.
In order to give a more competitive complexion on the game it was decided to move both Hugo and Joel across to the Sheffield team, given them a little more time on the ball, and meaning our defence had something to think about.  However, Jay scored from face using his strength and Luca got another couple.  Much to our keepers disappointment, Hugo scored for the visitors, meaning he still hasn't kept a clean sheet (unlike Jay).
Final quarter, saw goals from Luca, Ted and Rhys, and Hugo scored a screamer at the other end.  Leaving the result as being an 18-2 victory (and all 20 goals being scored by Stockport), but on a day where it was just great to get a game, and give players lots of game time.  There wasn't much else to gain from this fixture.
Much more difficult games coming up in the cup!
