U12s Stockport vs Cheadle

U12s Stockport vs Cheadle

Onondaga Cup match.

With the first cup match of the season to be played by Stockport against Cheadle, this was always going to be a tough one! Last time we played Cheadle they beat us 13 - 1. I know a lot of players look at a the ELA tables to get an inclination of the teams and make up their own predictions, I think that this can be a little self defeating at times, as you can lose a match purely in attitude before you’ve even played it. Past results do not necessarily mean future results. Our Stockport u12s team is a very mixed bag of ages and sizes at the moment and the club is making the best of a lot of new and young players, to get them into playing matches, even if it does mean losing a lot!
With it being the second half of the season and a cup match also, all the dispensations have moved on leaving some big gaps on the pitch for some small legs to fill.

Q1 Cheadle were soon two goals up within the first 5 minutes as despite being strong at face off with Dan Teal, Stockport often lost possession shooting wide or with careless passing.
Ethan managed a good couple of goals in the first quarter, but Cheadle were better organised with great spacial awareness and positioning themselves well, they moved the ball around the field between themselves as a full team, often behind the goal, ending the first quarter 6.2 to Cheadle

Q2 Cheadle were on a roll once they were well in front, scoring another 5 goals during this quarter,
a lot of them off the crease with no reply from Stockport, finishing at half time, 11.2 to Cheadle.

Q3 Dan Teal scored for Stockport after missing a sitter that Bertie could of scored in the previous quarter, not that Bertie needs any help pressing his buttons! Cheadle added three more to the score sheet as well as one from Josh who despite making 14 saves during the match, managed to spin one in his own net straight after a great save finishing Q3 15 3 to Cheadle.

Q4. Cheadle seem to of run out of steam towards the end of the match and Stockport picked themselves up and got back into the game a bit with Dan Teal and Ethan scoring two a piece.
However it was all a little late and the passing and catching skills of Cheadle had been fluid and accurate and Stockport had resorted to playing the ball mostly between the senior players of the team, which only ever has limited success, some of the Stockport shots in this game were also well off target and the majority of the match was played in the Stockport half.

Final score Stockport 7 Cheadle 19

Goal Scorers; Ethan 4 Dan Teal 3
