U12s at Home to Brooklands

A new season and practically an all-new team with just a few exceptions saw the Stockport Lacrosse U12s team off to a competitive start to the 2018 - 2019 season. Brooklands were the visitors who showed up with just 8 players, this meant that some of the Stockport players had to defect, reluctantly, for a short period of time each.
Brooklands had a better start to the game with the opening goal and a lively no 9 player as Stockport found their feet in their new team set up,  Stockport working hard, replying by 3 goals to 2  by the end of the first quarter.

Q2 was just as lively with Josh in the Stockport goal making numerous saves and keeping the score down finishing Q2 by 5 : 3 to Stockport.

Q3 Stockport lost a lot of possession from poor passing and jumping the gun at face off, leaving the keeper with a lot of work keeping the ball out, with the Stockport team starting to show some signs of tiring and loss of focus with some missed chances as Brooklands fought back, an evenly matched quarter with Brooklands pressuring the gap to finish Q3 8 : 6 still to Stockport.

Q4 the home team seemed a little disorganised towards the end of the game which finished with a 13 all draw, in a game they could have easily won by maintaining some composure and a little more stamina and some defending, according to the quarter stats. It was a very close match enjoyed by all with lots of goals and chances at either end. Well done to the Stockport boys who worked really hard and were enthusiastic throughout and a positive start for the match and the new season. A difficult draw when you’ve worked so hard in the early quarters.

Stockport 13 Brooklands 13

Goal Scorers,  Daniel Teal 6  Jacob Bradbury 5  Henry Parker 2
The squad looking smart in the new kit

Good to see the warm-up being taken seriously

Brooklands had a spare man in the middle this time

Josh is our last line of defence

...but he's up to the task

Top quality coaching is always on hand, young Josh has other priorities than listening to his Dad

I think this was Henry beating the keeper for one of his brace, he certainly put in a shift on the day

Always competing, tough but fair
Jacob might get a few more chances this year to perfect his celebrations
Another good claim by Josh

The face was fiercely contested all day
Good sportsmanship all around, as it should be
