Stockport lined with only two players on the team who had featured in the previous days U12 match and the young guns were up first against Timperley. Archie and Leo and were making their debut at this level after playing U8 last week and it was Joshua's first time representing the club.
The early exchanges were reasonably equal with Jacob and Freddie getting on the score sheet and Will helping organise an inexperienced defence from between the sticks. In the second half the experience and speed of the opposition started to show but the Stockport boys stuck to their jobs and gave a good account of themselves.
The next game against the hosts was a tougher match but all the lads had a go and kept getting back up when they were knocked down . The big pitch also took a toll on some tiring legs as the game went on. Will came out of the nets in the second half to add some physical presence to the line up with Thurston making his first appearance as a keeper. This helped to even up the teams but Rochdale were still putting together the more penetrating attacks as our defence tired.
After a rest and with the addition of a volunteer from Timperley an 8 a-side game was staged for all the players to gain a bit more experience and everyone had a chance to get a feel of the ball.
Well done to all the team for sticking with it and they will all be ready to come back stronger next time.
