What a great start to the season. Delighted to have all players available for selection, delighted with the new coaching team, and delighted with the way we played in our first game as a solus Stockport U14s for 4 years.
Invariably the attackers and middies, get the glory, but before I talk about how impressive they were, I thought the defence were fantastic, reading the game well, chasing everything down and strong in the challenge. Limiting our opposition to 3 shots all game.
Onto the middies, fabulous energy from some excellent athletes. Up and down all game, with no let up from their engines. As I have said for many years, we cant do anything without the ball, and with Will H being dominant at face, it allowed us be in control of the ball. Will H and Hugo chipping in with 5goals, 3 and 2 respectively.
The attackers, retained possession, worked the area well, and as long as we were moving off the ball we looked excellent. A staggering 29 shots, 22 on target and 14 goals, with Rhys and Cameron both getting 4 a-piece and Luca with 1 it was an impressive display all round.
Q1 6-0, Q2 4-0, Q3 3-0, and Q4 1-1, giving us a healthy win of 14-1.
