U12s Away at Cheadle

Happy New Year and all that but more importantly the continuation of the U12 Lacrosse season which is much more important, this weekend away at Cheadle.
The weather was cold with mix skies and a chance we might get wet but everyone was up for a good start to 2018 and continuation of the previous good games.  It was great to be playing our first game in 5 weeks, and although the pitch had taken a lot of water everyone was keen to get a game on.
The guys seemed to have learnt from previous games as there were no fouls in this game on either side which is great to see and the focus showed in a first quarter score of 1 - 7 which was a great start.
The dominance continued into the second quarter with a score of 0 - 3 although with the number of shots on goal (35no) this could have been substantially higher.  Face offs were mixed with 3 won and 5 lost at which point the scoreline was such that Cheadle took advantage of the free clear.
Into the third quarter legs were getting tired and communication lapsed leading to a goal by Cheadle and a quarter score of 1 - 5 which was still a positive result.
In the final quarter  the cold was taking its toll on all players and the spectators but the boys played on taking four more goals from the opposition whilst Cheadle scored another consolation goal giving a quarter score of 1 - 4. Final score 3 - 19.
Goals were shared about this week but special mention goes to two of our newer players, Dan O'Brien & James Thompson who both continued to battle through the game and both getting on the score sheet with one goal each, James on his debut.
Goals were also secured by Hugo, George & Jacob M all getting three a piece, Rhys, Ben & Luca all getting two and Jacob B, Dan, Daniel & James with one each.  Assists came from Dan and Hugo (5).
